Almost a Stranger

Quiet in the corner, sitting silently
He scarcely utters a word.
Simple and serene,
He appears to be.
Almost a stranger to me,
At times he seems a bore.
Yet underneath it all,
I know there’s something more.

Each day when I see him,
I discover something new
I like his hair and his pretty eyes,
I love when he wears blue.
But I’d like to know him better,
Deep down into his soul
I’d like to talk for a while, just us two
Watch a friendship unfold.

Thoughtful, sweet,
I’m sure he could become
Someone to talk to on a lonely night
And someone to love.
Everything will be all right
Just knowing he’s nearby.
Though he’s only a stranger to me,
I need him here by my side.
