Cannot close my eyes or I’ll lose sight
Of you, the only one worth seeing
And if I stop to catch my breath,
I may lose the air that keeps me breathing
And when there’s no more of your love
To keep me going, I shall fall.

The only life I want to live is one with you,
But each step I take
Brings me farther away
From you, where I thought I belonged.
Soon there will be nothing left to see,
All I’ll have in my heart is your memory.

So now I close my eyes and let you go,
Succumbed to bitter sleep and loneliness
Quenched at last by my own fire, so it seems
Forget the empty promises, the life unlived
And if, by chance, I meet you in my dreams,
I’ll pass you by, and wake to find you gone.
