If I could take the stars from the sky
And hold them close in my hand,
The only one that really mattered
Would still be out of reach.
And if I climbed a ladder to the moon tonight
For one glimpse of your love, one simple touch,
To keep me secure for just one night
You would wrench it from me, once again.
Why must you do this to me?
Tempting me with bitter sorrows
Offering everything you have to give,
Then taking it away.
You get yourself up under my skin,
But you will never stay.
Persuading me with poetry,
Enticing me to fall for you today.
You know I won’t resist your smile,
Yet you know that it won’t last for long
So why do you treat me this way
Luring me in, with your sweet charming song?
I never meant to fall, but now I’m caught
With nothing and no one but you to dream of
Tempting me with sorrows and singing your song,
It’s your fault that I’m in love.
