Gaze

I gaze up at you, but I'm lost in the stare
Your eyes, so penetrating, leave me gasping for air
Tears mist my eyes, but I feel calm within
A strange yet familiar sensation as you caress my skin
My mind has grown hazy, as I fall to my knees
My blood has been poisoned with Love's disease
The sounds of sorrow that fill my weary head
Have left me here with the tears I've bled
I've tried and tried to turn away, but I'm far too weak
I've tried to tell how I feel, but found no words to speak
You look to me puzzled, as to the tears I've cried
You reach out to touch me, and I die inside
I need you to stay with me, to silence my sorrow
I'm drowning in my pool of tears, but I'll learn to swim tomorrow
For now just help me to stand; hold me closer to you
Hold me in those eyes that have seen right through
All the burdens I bear, and through all of the lies
That have become my existence, a slowly fading disguise
Now that I have you, now that I have those eyes
To help in those times when my fears grow in size
...One more time, I am caught in your gaze
I feel as though I shall never understand your ways
I stare at you; not looking for answers, but a reason to believe
That you love me far too much for you to leave...
