Bloody Mary is Your Name

Mary Mary bloody Mary
How does your garden grow?
With severed heads and people dead
And graves lined all in a row.

Mary Mary bloody Mary
How do your old eyes see?
With frightening sights and unwanted rights
And a longing to be free.

Mary Mary bloody Mary
How can you stand the king?
With silent prayers, descend the stairs,
With a loneliness that stings.

Mary Mary bloody Mary
Will you walk to the river to cry?
Where you’ll be in sorrow and you can wallow
In despair after hearing the lies.

Mary Mary bloody Mary
Did your family shape your madness?
Your poisoned Mother and enthroned brother
I fear you’ll die of sadness.

Mary Mary bloody Mary
Do you feel like a bastard?
The king is dead, the crown on your head
The art of insanity mastered.

Mary Mary bloody Mary
Is the only religion yours?
Behead your friends, it all depends
And your people are keeping score.

Mary Mary bloody Mary
Killing’s how you got your fame
Non-catholics will die, you will not cry
Bloody Mary is your name.
