The Path

broken image
shattered glass
all memorials
of a lingering past
living a nightmare
sleeping awake
trapped in mirror
with no means of escape
looking down upon myself
i see the true me
and not who i've been
pretending to be
walking down a path
i was not meant to tread
and with sight of the right one
my heart filled with dread
but i could not live
within a lie
couldn't look in the mirror
until i was sucked inside
and when i could bear
the deciet no more
i freed myself of it,
the burden i once bore
and when the time came
to choose my path
i first chose the one
that i would have last
and fear dwelled within me
but a new light burned
the candle of utopia
and within hope churned
as i made my way slowly
i came to find
that what i had been so afraid of
was all in my mind
for on this forbidden way
i found what i was looking for
i found my true self
i had to lie no more
and if i could do it
all over again
i would choose this same path
that i chose in the end
