Slaves To The Machine

A million eyes look up to the light
A light created by millions of hands
A testament to great power and greed
A twisted monument in broken lands

A million eyes weep tears like tar
Tears that bleed from robotic hearts
That pump methodically, lifeless rhythm
Lifeless forms made of lifeless parts

No more hopes and no more fears
All now slaves to their own creation
Now with only the machine in mind
Mechanical destruction of man’s foundation

Scorched sky, red as blood
And now through their veins, oil runs black
A barren land, a vast venomous sea
But now it’s too late for the hands to go back

Too late for those hearts to beat free
Too late for eyes to shed illusion
Too late for programmed minds to break away
A computerized world will be their seclusion

And so the progression presses on
To satiate a lust for the unseen
The mechanized hands begin yet again
Forever slaves to the machine
