I saw you today
But I didn't walk that way
We didn't say "hi" or anything at all
We stared at each other like a wall
You had a glare
I had a stare
Not a smile on our faces
Its like we were in two different places
I hadn't seen you in a long time
The words were not yours or mine
You said something under your teeth
But they were deep, deep underneath
Did you know who I was?
There was no sound, no buzz
Just silence around
Quiet, no sound
I wish, I wish I could have said “how do you do?”
Would you have said “who are you?”
Or would you have nodded and walked away
Whatever it is I saw you today
