(This happened to a friend of mine and that was the inspiration for this
poem)

I look out the window Mom
And wonder if you’re there
But all I see is an empty car
Mocking my despair
You woke up early this morning
I never got to say goodbye
You said you’d always be there Mom
Would you ever tell a lie?
Hours of blissful ignorance passed
How sweet they seem to me
But now I’ve fallen in a nightmare
How could this ever be?
You were my light in the darkness
My best and truest friend
Who knew come one Sunday
Your life would reach its end
I didn’t even know
As Dad and I searched street and drive
I thought you might have been kidnapped
At least then you’d be alive
We got a call and finally knew…
A car had hit you
We rushed to the hospital, with hope still driving us on
But with the words “She didn’t make it” we knew you were gone
Then the nightmare came upon me
My mom and I were destined to be apart
Everyone kept saying
“She’s there with you, just look in your heart”
Maybe one day I’ll see her there
Telling me to live life to the fullest and not to fear
Until then Mom, I love you, I miss you
And I’d give the world to have you here
