The Great Hare Of Night

My warrior stands,
In robes of white...
On hills of seas,
He screams in night.

His sword flashes through the light,
Blinding those who put up a fight.
His eyes like gold.
He stares you down.
Watching you fall slowly to the ground.

Late in dark,
He stands alone..
Wishing he had but just one home.
Moments later,
He turns to see....
A fox in black..
As dead as sea.
He holds the bow of death it seems,
Screaming with delight,
He grasps death's arrow,
Sending it flying through air like a sparrow.

My warrior is hit,
Hard in the heart...
His eyes glow red,
With terror and shock.
He runs like lightning,
So swift it seems,
The blood makes trails of death I see.
With a flash of quickness,
He slices away..
Making the fox twist in so many ways.

The battle is done,
Once again He has won.
But what is this,
So weak I see...
His heart stops beating so silently.
He stops to rest,
Upon a tree...
While shaking he sleeps quietly.
His days are gone,
And dead forever.
May his soul fly through trees and meadows,
Helping those who meet death in the eye,
Just like he did..
While he was alive.

With a sudden jerk I awaken with fright,
Sitting in my bed i think through the night.
A tear of love spreads in my eyes,
I wish i could see Jake just one more time.
Out of my room I silently creep,
To the backyard I sit and weep.
I stare at the grave,
Of my warrior of night.
Thinking maybe I could bring him to life.
But all is done,
Hes gone and away,
I wish he lived just one more day..

(this poem was writen for a friend of mine because her rabbit had died. that
is why I had mentioned the name Jake...)
