The Memory

Glitter eyes, and a precious face
Embodiment of hope, of dreams remembered
A beautiful doll with porcelain hands
She shines like a star in the darkening sky-
An innocence so sweet,
A heart so untainted-
Who is this wonderful creature?
Who is this perfect entity?
Could it be that she,
Coveted by angels,
Is that which I used to be?
I, me, now with shattered tears
Now with broken wings,
Now with broken dreams-
Could it be that I have truly
Fallen this far, dropped this far,
Pushed myself this far-
An empty shell, a hollow tear
As I weep into the unyielding darkness,
As I pray for undying forgiveness,
I remember that girl I used to be
Remember the hopes, I remember the dreams-
And only these words
Resonate through my mind as I lie here,
Cut through my thoughts as I cry here-

How did it ever come to this?
