Braces

As I lay down on the chair today,
There's not much that I can say.
With the doctor's hands working on my braces,
I get a shrill feeling right to my laces.

A clip on my wires takes them right off,
It feels so weird I have to cough.
While choosing my colors to put on,
I just wish my braces were gone.

However, I guess it's worth the wait,
Braces for a year for a lifetime of straight.
So when I walk back in the lobby,
I think to myself this could be a hobby.

Coming back every month for a change of wires,
A rubber band or two every once in awhile.
The pain in my mouth hurts so much,
Even when I take a bite out of my lunch.
