Cherished Memories

Granfathers are special people
Without them our lives would be bare
Like a church that has no steeple
They are the roots of the family tree
And without them we become feeble
Then we cry for our loss
But soon learn we must survive
We must keep the family name alive
So with our cherished memories we strive
Back to the way we used to be
When grandpa was still part of our lives
But we soon realize what is missing
And with tears in our eyes we start reminiscing
We think of all th happy times
The coloring books, the nursery rhymes
Every possible thought from when we were little
A bad joke or even a riddle
Then when we're done
We put the memories away
So that they can be remembered another day
But no matter what, we love you grandpa
And in our hearts you'll stay
Night by night,day by day
