A Friend Of Mine

So incredibly unique
And yet so familiar
In his eyes of blue
A deep blue like the deepest part of the ocean
A caring stare
A kind stare
Wide-eyed and wandering
Never focusing yet always concentrating
By placing his hands on my shoulders
Tension and angst disappear
For he truly cares for his friends
His most treasured possessions
I used to envy him
Truth be told I still do
He has a self assurance I will never hold
Yet he is all the assurance that I recieve
It's strange to say yet it isn't
Understood by only his closest friends
As to why he does everything in his own way
So as to not say I am better than you
But that he is not afraid to try something new
With a guitar in one hand
And a scarf in the other
He faces each day
With a song in his heart
And a smile on his face
Placing his hand on your shoulder
You'd understand why I consider him my friend.
