First days at school always gave me the chills
Even if I was new, I knew the drills
I filed into class just like the rest
Taking a seat next to those I thought best
I looked around scared of all the unknown
Definitely not in my comfort zone
As the lady in the front explained each rule
I gazed at my new peers trying to keep my cool
Studying each and everyone’s face
I went up and down each row like a trace
Stopping every once in a while to actually listen
I, then, resume noticing some girl’s sweat glisten
Grossed out, I shifted my eyes to the guy next to me
He was different from all that I could see
He chatted quietly to his friend near him
I admired his every move closely not becoming dim
He had vivid eyes of dazzling honey
His appearance, itself, brightened that moment and made it sunny
I watched him becoming lost in a trance
Forgetting where I was, I was slipping into a romance
A faint sound brought me back to the present
Shattering all dreams, making everything less pleasant
Getting up I stepped out into the hall
Watching him walk away, watching him get small
This may be my first day in a new school and town
But I wasn’t going to let something so simple get me down
When I saw him I felt my heart skip a beat
I knew that without him I would be incomplete
He was going to be mine just wait and see
Just a couple of years from now, he’ll be with me.
