Open your hand
Let me place mine inside it
I want to show you my presence
I want you to know it.

Open your mouth
Let your words tumble
They’ll stream from your cavity
Spill into the streets.

Stretch out your feet
Dance to the music given
Hear the melody and the joy
Move to the rhythm.

Open your nose
Smell the city’s smells
Breathe in the cold
Breathe out the blasphemy.

Move your legs
Don’t be stiff any longer
Walk a mile
Walk toward me.

Open your eyes
You are not by yourself
I am here, loving you
You will no longer be alone.

Time is still watching, though
We are no longer in the past
Freedom is a test
War is the new crisis.

And I wonder if we’re strong
I wonder if we’ll pass the test
Our freedom is our life
We cannot deny our existence.

Nor can we deny each other
I am true to you
As you are true to me
We must be factual to each other.

But I do this
Because I love you
Because I care for you
So open your hands to me.
