My faith is like an ocean tide
And lord you are my boat,
When i feel that i will sink
You keep me afloat.
And in my darkest hours,
Your word brings me a light,
Through the narrow pathways,
And the shift from day to night.
I desire your holy presence
And through it feel complete,
Because your word is here for me
And is a lamp unto my feet.
My faith is shaky like the tides
And much you hold for me,
You are my foundation
When i feel lost at sea.
Christ the rock and lighthouse tall
That shines for all who look,
For all that is and must be known
Written in your holy book.
But Lord i still look other ways
Than the way you tell me to,
And my life becomes much more
Than living just for you.
My faith sways to and fro
And yet you keep me still,
Even through the times i know
I do not do your will.
Give me your Spirit and reveal to me
That which i don't understand,
Show me in my faith for you
The works that come from your hand.
My faith is like an ocean tide
And lord you'll stay my boat,
For when i've felt that i should sink,
I have always stayed afloat.
