{In memory of Carissa Mitchell}

The deadly breath of death gave way
Her heart, half empty
Wouldn't see another day
Searching for something
That wasn't quite there
Confusion lurking
In an innocent stare
Her life was brought to an end,
So young
Seventeen was the age
That it chose to succumb
Only a child
With her whole future ahead
Her dreams were all shattered
And her wishes are dead
her prayers, unanswered
By the naked eye
The reason for this...
Only God knows why
The reason to live
The reason to die
Faint memories pass
Through all of our minds
Sheer shock explains
The unanswered reply
The unanswered reason
That we all have mistaken
Why we were meant to live
Yet her life was taken
Why we got a chance
To live all of our life
Yet she was the one
Who had to die
Why did she do it?
Why isn't she alive?
The questions run through
Our minds' mental eye
The reasons pile
Upon all of our faces
The look of uncertainty
That feels up the spaces
The quick, shocking second
That ruined her life
With all of these reasons...
There's a mourning goodbye
