The Kiss

My brother and I were walking up the street towards the laundry mat,
Chris and Khia hold bags of clothes in their hands.
They needed me and my brothers help, so we helped carry their bags.
It was a dark night and winter was there,
But gone somehow.
Across from us was a parking lot of ice,
We went over there and rode on each other’s back.
Just before we forgot, we rushed over to the laundry
And checked the clothes.
No one seemed to notice that we weren’t there.
The aroma of soap and clean clothes filled our noses.
We left the mat to go back across the street to continue our game.
The streets were somewhat deserted,
We didn’t feel the cold around us
All we felt was the warmth from each other’s bodies.

The clothes had finished from that vacuous place,
So we started our walk to their house
And when we got there, Chris wanted to kiss me goodbye.
I said, “I’ll only do it if Tyson and Khia kiss.”
Hesitation was the first step, but then they agreed.
We went into the damp basement and stood there.
“Well, go and kiss him Khia.” Chris said.
"No! You kiss Nidia first, then I’ll proceed.”
"Fine! I'll kiss Chris." I said.
When my lips touched his,
It was better than heaven.
I was lifted in the air and felt like a firefly.
You could find me when I glowed but not when I don’t.
That kiss was just unquestionable and when we finished
We looked over at Khia and my brother.
They were kissing like nobody’s business.

“Chris, that kiss will change my life forever.” I said.
"Mines too." he said.
