On the shore
The ocean’s waves are crashing
I hear the painful sounds
Of people laughing.
I remember when you and I
Would come here just before night
Watching the sun
So dim, yet so bright.
Memories float through my mind
Of the good times we shared
The memories of way back when
I knew you really cared.
Those memories are fading fast
Because of the pain, I don’t want to remember
Especially that tragic night
Early in December.
On that night
We were driving down the street
You were yelling at me so loud
My heart skipped a beat.
I made you pull over
I couldn’t take the yelling anymore
You drove off leaving me
And the rain started to pour.
They told me when I got home
That you had hit a tree
And you weren’t going to make it
As far as the doctors could see.
I rushed to the hospital
Just as you died
I fell to the floor
And for days I cried.
I don’t remember why we argued
Only that it was my fault
I only wish
That I could bring time to a halt.
Now you’re gone
But still in my heart
I will never forget you
We will never part.
As I watch the sun
Fall slowly from the skies
Tears start to form
Behind my hazel eyes.
