Kill The Lights

So many nights spent staring at the skies
Searching the stars for an answer
For something to make me feel human
To make me feel at all...
Each night I watched as more stars went out
Their corpses falling from the heavens
Crashing down to earth
Until I was left with nothing
No light to guide me
Alone in the darkness
Surrounded by the shadows of the fallen stars
The chill of death radiating from them
And I find it hard to breathe this frozen air
I beg for the night to end
For the sunlight to bring warmth back to my flesh
But the morning never comes
And I am left forever in this emptiness
The ghosts of dead dreams haunting me
Tormenting me as I blindly struggle
And I cannot fight against these demons I created
Still I search for that something
That will bring the light back into this world
Melt the ice that has numbed me
Resurrect these dead stars
But slowly I realized what I'd always known
Nothing was ever there
There was no glitter of hope to be found
All those nights I had gazed into the sky had led to nothing
The light would never be mine again
But there is beauty in this eternal darkness
And truth can be found in pain
For when all lights have gone out
The true reality can be seen
Shining brighter than the stars ever could
And the answer becomes so clear
Happiness is waiting down the barrel of a loaded shotgun
All I have to do is pull the trigger..
