~*~Houston~*~
On October first,
two-thousand and three.
Something so unthinkable,
happened to Houston and his family.
My dear friend, who was like my brother,
was riding his skateboard across the street.
A car came out of no where,
Houston met a fate he didn’t have to meet.
They rushed him to the hospital.
I understand they tried.
But I wonder what could have happened,
if he just didn’t have to die.
Friends from all around
in many different places,
covered their eyes,
not revealing their tear stained faces.
School was hard the next couple of days.
Blood shot eyes wandering around.
No where to go, no where to hide
from all of the sadness that has been found.
Why Houston, why him
of all the people on this Earth?
He never did anything wrong.
Is this really all life is worth?
Some of the teachers at school,
want us to forget.
Some of them told us not to cry.
Some say there’s nothing to regret.
But, yet there’s some that
help us suffer through our pain.
They help us tame those feelings,
that are in no way a gain.
Houston was a short guy,
but in many different ways,
he was taller than the sky at heart.
Always with a smile on his face.
He was treated bad by a few,
but sure enough he didn’t care.
He always walked away happy,
no matter when or where.
He played for the school soccer team.
We all know he liked to skate.
He was a brilliant and loving child,
in a world so full of hate.
He thought he’d never make a difference,
but he touched us in many ways.
We learned so much in such a short time,
of hours, nights, and days.
Now that he’s gone,
everything’s just not the same.
It is tearing everyone apart,
just to hear his name.
People are dealing with this,
in many different ways,
some don’t know what to think
and others struggle to get through the days.
It’s hard to believe
someone you’ve known throughout your whole past,
can just go away like that.
It just happens all so fast.
You can be talking with someone one minute,
and the next minute they are gone,
but you have to go on with life
trying to be strong.
Never forgetting the good times you had,
and laughing at the bad.
Smiling just like he taught us to,
there’s no reason for us to be so sad.
The days may be bright and sunny,
that’s because he is laughing at us for crying.
On the rainy days, when the clouds are overcast,
he’s sad because we miss him and we feel like dying.
He made an impact on us all,
wearing a smile with every outfit.
I hope he remembers us forever,
and never will forget.
We love you Houston,
we really and truly do.
Alot of us would be lost,
if it had not been for you.
We don’t know why you had to leave.
Many of us would gladly take your place.
But we know God had a reason
he wanted to bring you home and meet you face to face.
We miss you so bad,
and we will never forget your face.
There will always be a place for you in our hearts,
seeing that no one can take your place.
We wish you were here,
so you could ask us how our day is going,
to teach us the many lessons you have
taught us without us knowing.
Everyone misses you,
from your family to your skater boys.
I also miss you very much
and the things you have given me with your many joys.
Life will go on,
and that I must always remember to the end,
but I will never replace you and I’ll miss you.
I’ll always remember you and you will always be my friend.
Don’t ever forget me.
I’ll see you when I’m there,
and when it is my time to go,
I want to see that smile that you were so proud to wear.
In loving memory of
