There's a war three worlds away,
a million people died today,
The world is full of plight,
all the hearts engulfed in night.
the hippies give their speeches,
the sirens give their screeches,
the lovers start to cry,
The poets start to die.
but do I really care,
what all happened out there?
and when the music was no more,
who opened the blackened door?
And when I'm caught in disbelief,
the past goes down and comes to grief.
Like Cobain sank down on his knees,
we all ask God for answers please,
but does He ever stop to listen,
and is it my fault I'm hard and gristened?
All the things I can't remember
the perils of 2 cold decembers,
and what happens when you see the dove,
and who was it burned the book of love?
Did Jesus really live to see,
and is the Lord still hearing me?
I'm sorry that I cannot mind,
what happens to what I can't find.
I read the paper, watch the news,
and all I do is sing the blues.
so if you are a true believer,
then dig out my soul's deceiver.
So what is love but one long story,
What is life but purgatory?
so since God hears all words I say,
Tell me my tale, and hear me pray
