While You Have Fun

When I was young and so content
The world seemed to be my own
Everything earned my consent
To everyone, I was known
Laughing and playing
Making a mess
Ignorant and unaware of the things I was saying
Focusing on the prettiest dress
Selfish and foolish and unaware
Of those who had nothing at all
People were dying and I didn’t care
As long as I had someone to break my fall
Lost in a world created by me
Unknown by parents and boys
Everything I saw was kept intently
And lost while making too much noise
I only cried when I lost and only rejoiced when I won
The things in life that really matter
You realize after they’re gone
Are the precious things that shatter
And die
While you have your fun
