I smile because it hurts
I smile because it lingers
I smile at all the pain
that scratches it’s nail sharp fingers.

You could take a thousand knives
And jolt them in my chest
because Your essence gives a concussion
That bears a manifest

You know how to alert all my insecurities
And make them deluge to the top
My confidence lies in your palms
When you squeeze my heart beat stops.

You suppress all my attempts
To eliminate your hold.
To only wash you out of my heart
And let you freeze in the biting cold.

You twist and tug my emotions
To where im held in your control
Making you think im yours forever
Until the ocean waves cease to roll.

Well inside the waves are thrashing.
And drowning my conscious deep.
Making me so unhinged
That my body cant shutdown and sleep

Hypnos has no effect
on my unrested mind.
Not even Dionysus could induce me with his wine.
