World of the Sun

I have gone blind
But have not gone mute
My memories of what I saw
Come through my words
And believe me when I say
My words will paint you
A picture like none have ever seen before

I take many walks through the woods
I find peace of mind there
Among the old and wise trees
The gentle grass
The beautiful flowers
The calm flowing streams
The songs and joy of the forest
Heard through the birds
And through the caress of the wind
Always comforting if comfort
Was to be needed

I was admiring a lovely summer day
One fine summer day
A fragrance of flowers
Was carried on a breeze
So gently
And smelled of sweet roses
And baby's breath

I lifted my head
And traced the outlines of the trees
And just beyond them
The firey medallion of life and light
The sun
Brilliantly shining
It's light shed for all to bask in

But I saw beyond the fire
I saw great spirit in the sun
A fire not of heat
But of eternity and love
A wondrous light
So great that if you tried
You could be engulfed by the light
And taken to the world of the sun
Of heat and love and fire of life

I stared too long
And hardly wanted enough
I wished to remain here
And with spite the sun struck me blind
Leaving me with nothing but words
And lifeless eyes of white
Memories are left
And I have my words
So if one day you find yourself
Drawn to the sun
Do not hold back
Let yourself be embraced
By that wonderful utopia
Don't be like me
A man who honestly had no reason
To pass up eternal life
In the world of the sun.
