This poem just came to me at an interesting time. I'd like to do a
little pre-cursor here. Sometimes people get in a rhythm and kind of plateau
where they are. They think things are great and will stay that way. Then
after some time we put God aside thinking we can take care of ourselves. We
sometimes think that we don't always NEED God. But we do. You never
know what can happen in an instant. I have two lessons in this poem. One,
not so big is the lesson of not drinking and driving. It's brief, but
you'll notice it. The other is to remember that we need God to survive.
We need God at all times. Now without further adue...
His life was marked by fame and skill
And money to live out forever.
But did he get the chance to spend it?
The answer is no, never.
He was found in a car on a thursday night
With a beer bottle down by his side.
His car was wrecked and his face was smashed
It was clear to all he had died.
His fame, skill, and money was not enough
To save him from his own demise.
To him, he thought he'd never die,
And his death would be a surprise.
He made the wrong choices and even believed
He could control things not his.
His life was not his own at all
For God decides who lives.
I write this poem not for your fear
I write it in boundaries of love.
Though this scenario is a fake
Your life's decided from above.
We tend to believe we control our lives
And nothing can make that change.
We look at life by what we can see
And not by things at long-range.
We live our lives in a cardboard box
And believe that will always be.
Day by day we see new problems
And say, "That won't happen to me."
But really, who are you to decide
If something should happen to you?
Live your lives as if it will
Or you'll wind up out in the blue.
This poem is written out of love
In hopes that you will see,
We like to think we have control
But in the end it is He.
THE END
