You say you need advice
You ask if we can talk
A friend to friend conversation
So we start to talk a walk.
I ask what's bothering you
But you answer only bothers me
You say you love this girl
But you say it could never be.
Saying you love someone else
Only brings pain inside
Because I love you
And to tell you, I've tried
You talk more about her
She's gorgeous, fun, and smart
You saying this brings more pain
To my already broken heart.
You say you want it to work
But you don't know how she feels
You say you can't live without her
You can only see what time reveals.
You ask me
What you should do
You say I'm the only one you trust
And just then my love for you grew.
I said just go for it
But in my mind I thought
You're making a big mistake
My heart's already been bought.
You look at me funny
Because that's all I have to say
You realize I'm not as happy
In my mind, it's grey.
You ask me what's the matter
You ask me if I'm sad
You ask me what would make me happy
What would make me glad.
I tell you that it's my turn
I need some advice too
But mine is a little more difficult
The problem is what makes me blue.
I say I love this guy
Who clearly doesn't love me
He's in love with someone else
As far as I can see.
I say we never had
A chance a all
The pain eats me alive
I'm becoming weak and small.
You sit there for a moment
Everything becomes clear
You act all strange
Like you don't believe what you hear.
You reach over
And touch my teary face
You wonder why you took the time
And if it's just a waste.
You stare into my eyes
The girl you love has a pair
Then it finally hits you
The one you love is there.
You lean over again
We share our first kiss
I start to question you
But the point you can't miss.
We were talking about each other
I had to think it through
Finally I say I love you
You say you love me too.
