Breathe

In my time of need
You helped me breathe
Lifted me out of the water when I was drowning
And just like that you came into my life
Held my hand and dropped my knife
You helped me breathe

Up on cloud nine
I saw the silver line
Tell me I am worth while
Throwing a smile
Pinning my heart
Playing the part
You helped me breathe

Soon I was high on your love
Like you were a drug
I had to be with you
You made me, me
You helped me breathe

Soon you grew sour
Consumed with power
The happiness grew dim
The silver grew thin
I needed you to feel okay
My highs spread their wings and flew away
You helped me breathe

Soon things got so bad I was back in deep water
I should have known better, should have been smarter
Screaming for you
Consumed by the blue
Once again drowning
You helped me breathe

Lucky enough you came walking slowly
Bent down and held my sleeve
Smiling coldly
You lifted me boldly
Then dropped me
And held my head under
How can it be
You helped me breathe
When you just took my breath away?
