Blind To See

lonely angel

Through swollen eyes do I now see
The memories we once shared
One path we walked hand in hand
Quickly sent us our separate ways

Split, we lived, not knowing the other
Alone, we traveled our own paths
One, less traveled than the other
Passing the signs
Never looking back,
Never seeing ahead
One foot in front of the other
One day at a time

Looking into our small one's eyes
I wonder what he sees
Memories, of love, you two once shared
Or thoughts of what should be?
Those innocent eyes, so full of love
How could you not see?
If those were signs you passed by
How blinded you had to be

Away you went on your own
Stumbling along the way
Until one last stumble, kept you blind
For all eternity

Along my path, I now walk
Wondering what must be
The stumbling, the falling
The pain now washes over me

Through those blind eyes
From all your pain
I pray your now able to see
To see beyond the pain you endured
And become anything you want to be
