Pride Resists Defeat

They say we’re defeated, the trouble’s done
That we rose up twice and had our fun

They bark these notions through the ears
Of stubborn men to heighten fears

Now’s not when we scream and cry
Here’s the place we’re meant to die

We’ve sold our souls and paid the price
There’s no escape, but we’ve tried twice

That’s why we’re silent walking through rain
With shattered wills to dull our pain

They say we’re defeated, the trouble’s done
That we rose up twice and had our fun

We walk unto our destinies to the forceful beat
Of cruel shackled hands in line with barefoot feet

Ragged hair and tattered clothes
Wear us, it’s the path we’ve chose

Dirt caked eyes stare straight ahead
Looking everything but dead

So they say we’re defeated, the trouble’s done
That we rose up twice and had our fun

And bark these notions through the ears
Of stubborn men to heighten fears

And though fear is branded to the shamed souls of ten
Silence marks pride of one thousand other men
