If the Sun Came Out

Wouldn’t it be funny if the sun did rise
And ever shine on in the azure skies-
Wouldn’t it be funny if no rain came down
And the green grass grew all around-

Wouldn’t it be nice if I could take your hand
We’d walk together in this perfect land-
And wouldn’t it be nice to just waste the day
In dewy fields where we’d lazily lay-

But isn’t it sad that things aren’t this way
The clouds in the sky hang somber and gray-
And isn’t it sad that we’re so shrouded in dark
Our minds are barren, our hearts are stark-

Isn’t it tragic, you’re so out of reach
This barrier that’s so hard to breach-
Isn’t it tragic, I can’t feel your touch
But please believe I need you so much-

It appears that all of our hope is in vain
As we stand with each other, here in the rain-
Our future, it seems, is so clouded in doubt
But wouldn’t it be funny if things worked out-
