He cried.
He never lied.
He made good grades.
He always watched parades.
He knew his mom was beat.
He knew her strength couldn’t compete.
He knew his dad was a drunk.
He knew all his sister did was fuck.
He knew he was academically gifted.
He knew his mother’s loved drifted.
He knew he wasn’t accepted.
He knew he wasn’t addicted.
He knew he was a geek.
He got picked on all week.
He knew nothing could help.
He didn’t bother to yelp.
He knew it was his choice.
He knew he had his own voice.
He knew he shouldn’t take the gun.
He knew it just shouldn’t be done.
He knew he shouldn’t go into the bathroom.
He knew it would all end with gloom.
He knew he shouldn’t pull the trigger.
He knew it would make his problems bigger.
He saw memories flashed before his eyes.
He fell to his feet and could not rise.
She walked by the room and screamed.
She saw all the blood that gleamed.
She thought of all the pain he had.
She thought of all of it and got sad.
She realized she didn’t want to end that way.
She realized that living is the way she must stay.
