It was dark and dreary, but the moon was bright
She pulled her blankets around her tight
She was all alone, no where to hide
As she sat and watched the rising tide
She looked up at the stars, twinkling afar
Like burning headlights of a distant car
She lie down to think the the past
The past that had all hppened so fast
But the past is the past, and that is that
She can do nothing for she cannot go back
She must except what she cannot change,
Even the consequences and the pain
But the pain she can take no longer!
Must her past always haunt her?
No! She can take it no more!
Tonight is the last night she'll walk out that door
Tonight is the last night she is crushed to the core
The moonlight guides her as she walks around back
As she climbs up to the deck
And slips the rope around her neck
She looks out at the ocean for one last sight
Of the thing that had comforted her on previous nights
But tonight was too much, its comfort would not suffice
For nothing could save her from this awful life
That is nothin but death, which was waiting for her
Nohting but death could save her soul anymore
So as she tightens the rope around her neck
She looks up to the sky, at the moon and the stars
Which had helped her through life but could only take her so far
She wispers a than you into the sky
For helping her through when she wished she would die
But it had become too much for her to bear
All alone in a world where no one much cared
A single tear runs down her cheek
She looks to the sky and does not blink
Without a word she jumps from the rail
And as hangs there she begins to turn pale
Shes taken her last breath, the last one she'll ever get
Yet wasted it not on words, instead saved it in her chest
As she hangs in midair, this helpless girl with much to bear
The moonlight surrounds her and holds her tight
Shes finally ended her helpless fight
On this dark and dreary night
