The Candle

The flame steals my eye.
The candle hypnotizes my thoughts.
I glare at it endlessly.

All of my pain seems to go away.
All of my faults are suddenly invisible.
Beauty is hidden, for I have none.

The candle burns without a care.
The flame dances in the wind.
Burning bright it gives way to my night.

The glare it shows upon your face is evil,
But you are not evil.
I know you better.
The beauty you possess is showing ever so clearly.

I know what I have.
I realize what I've lost.
My mind remains blank,
But somehow I think.

The candle grows dim,
And so does our love.
Our love turns into hate.
We both appear ugly.

The candle tries to tell us what the future beholds with its wicked
movements.
We care not to listen.
We care not to see.
We'd rather be blind to what's infront of us.

Harsh words turn into twisted cries.
We hate eachother.
I blow out the candle as we blow out our love.
We think to ourselves, "was this really love?"
