frolic then die

This was supposed to be the dream I never wished to wake from.
I could not have guessed what this was to bring me.
A heart full of hope, but still torn in two;
A mind set straight, but continually apprehensive
You’re more than words can describe,
And perfect in every way.
I’ve given up the best of me,
To replace the habits I developed to destroy myself.
You were my placebo, my life support.
This nurturing love gave me the chance to grow.
And just like the tree in which we engraved our love,
I grew, rotted, and started anew
