They see me as a statue
Silver, shiny- perfection gleaming
You see me tarnish
Painted tin, silver seeming
I see your silver layer
Underneath your tin
They only see the ruster coat
You wear as your skin
They don't hear what you say
Whispered romances in my ear
Or feel what I feel
When you hold me tighter near
Don't you know you're better
Than metal rusted over
They tell me I deserve
At the least, a silver lover
But I see what they can't
When I hold my piece of tin
I'm held captive by the golden soul
That resides deep within
