One Last Goodbye

My body trembles as I lie here on the ground,
and I succomb to my fears,
my fears of facing another day.
I let the tears slide down my face,
feeling them entirely,
knowing that they are one of the last sensations I will ever have.
I try to ignore the pain,
and my mind is taken over by the images of my life,
so many poems,
photographs,
and all the laughter,
the people who I care about.
Every face runs through my memory,
but one face is imbeded there,
It is yours.
For a moment,
I wonder where you are,
and what you will say tomorrow.
Please don't be angry,
I love you more than words can say.
The image is now growing farther away.
I no longer feel my tears,
and my body no longer trembles.
Where am I now?
I am lying in a field of daisies.
Wow, this is beautiful!
I wish you could see it.
Can you see it?
My fear is gone,
replaced by a sense of comfort,
of relief.
I like this place,
I think I'd like to stay.
I whisper your name,
A solid goodbye.
I slowly close my eyes,
as my spirit leaves the earth.
