She only acknowledges me
when it's been established
that we're doing something
together.
She only talks to me
when it's been too long
since she's had any human
contact.
We pass each other in school
and don't say a word.
We pass each other in Wal-Mart
and pretend we didn't notice,
and we follow each other around.
This is the closest thing
I've ever had
to a best friend.
