Using the correct word
Is an art within itself.
You must very carefully choose it
To aptly describe how felt.
Some people use words that are complicated
And some use words that are long.
It makes them “sound smart” they say
(But what if they use them wrong?)
But even in the midst of this
And unspoken language stands
Like the love that you can see and feel
When a small child reaches for your hand.
He may not utter a single word,
But you know deep inside your heart,
That he loves you with everything he has
And nothing can tear that apart.
You can see the care that two close friends have
When they’re always there for one another.
You know they’ll stick through thick and thin
Always lovin’ each other.
The friendliness in a puppy’s bark
The adoration in his eyes.
You know he loves you with all he’s got
And you he’ll never despise.
The gentleness in a new mother’s touch
As tears roll down her face.
She holds her baby in her arms
A feeling she can’t replace.
So, no matter what kinds of words you use,
Whether you made them up or they’re real,
The best thing that you can do
Is not tell, but show them how you feel.
A/N--just so you know, I had to write this for a poetry contest. This is not
my usual topic of poetry so don't judge me by this one stupid poem.
Thanks! ^_^
