Many times I’ve heard the verse,
Just put the past behind you.
But for me,
It feels like it’s just begun.
As I look on the many years behind us,
I think of how much fun we’ve had.
Even though it was just a few short years,
Those memories well never fade.
When you had to move away,
Many tears were shed.
That day,
The clouds seemed a little grayer,
And everyone’s face,
They grew a little sadder.
The day that you returned,
The sun shined brighter,
And everyone’s smiles,
Grew so much wider.
This past year has been the greatest,
And we couldn’t have asked for much more.
But now,
Once again you’re leaving,
And we all understand why.
But also now is just another moment,
I don’t want to hear the phrase,
Just put the past behind you,
Because right now,
The past holds the memories of you.
