Saying Goodbye

It started as a ray of sunshine,
The meeting.
An incredible reconstruction of happiness,
Flooding me with an array of luminescence.

Altering my life
From that of a lost boy,
To a young man,
With purpose.

You were my shining light,
Adding thousands of brilliant colors
To a world
Of black and white.

Close.
More so than family,
Trustworthy, dependable,
But not enough.

Pushing
To make it closer,
I created
Catastrophe,

An innocent expression
Of feelings
Made you
Turn the other way.

My sun began to set,
Shadows danced through the dimming light.
Feeling neglected and ignored,
My world started to crumble.

An asylum
Emerged in its place.
One of torn hearts,
An unlit void.

First a terrible silence,
Leaving a chance to reflect
On the happiness
Of once upon a time.

Now the pain,
Loneliness,
Like needles stabbing my heart,
As a later, gloomier hour approaches.

Despair,
Descends through my suffering.
Still you speak no words,
As anguish creeps deeper into my soul.

Sorrow,
Never-ending,
Surrounds the body with cold,
In the black of night.

Two people transformed
From friends,
To coincidental
Acquaintances.

Trapped in sorrow,
Darkness swallows my world,
Forever,
While you walk away,

Without

saying

goodbye.
