Broken Home

I walked through the door,
And hung up my hopes,
Because I knew the disparity,
Was waiting for me now.

I used to hide behind love,
Dreams would shield me from you.
But you had to destroy those too,
Didn’t you?

How can I call you father?
When I know the truth,
You scream and yell and curse,
I guess I failed you…

So maybe next time,
I will stand up to you,
Or maybe next time,
I won’t come back to this broken home…
