It was one swift slap,
hard across my face,
I probably deserved it,
my heart starts to race.

Your hand is raised,
poised to strike again,
I cower in the corner;
please just let it end!

Your eyes filled with rage,
stare at me coldly,
you force me to stand up,
daring me to do it boldly.

My gaze shifts downward,
I stare at the floor,
now it's your words not your hand
that strikes my heart's core.

I stand there stupidly,
while you call me a whore,
but I've had enough,
so I start for the door.

I jolt awake from my dream,
with tears streaming from my eyes,
how can you, so far away,
still make me cry?

^^^ hey people out there.... you aren't alone....
