"Shiny Things, butterflies, and Lip Gloss"
Written June 8, 2004

Not sure what to do when I am bored,
I stare at glitter that has fallen on the art room floor.
I think of all my shiny things.
My bracelets, my rings, and the mirror I stare in for hours.
I just happen to think about them as I ignore my friend,
Something about the Biscuit Kitchen and Love novels.
I don’t care right now because I see a shiny thing.

I look outside of the car window.
My mother is talking, my sister yelling.
OH LOOK!
A butterfly, how beautiful it is.
It’s like me, but not.
Now I am hungry because well I thought about me.
I just happen to always be hungry, but I think of the butterfly.

Prince Charming thinks he can wear some
But I do it even more.
I put so much on when I do this lip gloss
I see man whores in drag sigh in shame
I love my lip gloss though
It is shiny and I like shiny things
As I watch the butterfly and put on my lip gloss.

Many of you may not know who this poem is about.
It isn’t the author but a close friend
Who happens to like shiny things, butterflies, and lip gloss.
Those who know will laugh and others can relate it to someone they know
But if you don’t get the joke
Fun we will poke
At my friend that is.

(Dear Readers: I wrote this for a friend who I love and respect. I do tease
her alot and she teases me, I do not mean this to be mean, for if it was
mean it would not be here. I love my friend very much and I do enjoy being
teased because I think it is good to laugh at yourself and others as long as
it is in the meaning of friendship)
