The Blindfold Of Love

Love,
A blinding mirage
That makes you do things
You'd never think of.

Yet you can't hold back
To the temptations of its power,
As you senselessly carry on,
And you know the source is love.

Though love is like a blindfold,
With a tempting voice,
That relieves you to open up so much,
You're bound to get hurt.

You don't see it until
The mask falls away,
The real truth is shown,
And you finally hear the alert.

Since you were blinded,
You couldn't sense the lies that lay before you,
And you're left with an empty feeling that never goes away.

You realize this hatred is all because of love,
The stupid feeling that makes you so foolish,
Yet you couldn't hear how stupid you sounded,
Because love directed everything you'd say.

And you then say to yourself,
'If this is love,
I want no part of it',
and you walk right into another set of arms,
Only to be tricked once again,
The ever so tempting sin.
