Darkness

I am surrounded by darkness,
a darkness so eerie that even the bravest crouch in fear.
I can feel it constricting around my neck,
like a rope that is squeezing every last drop of life out of you.
It slowly wraps around my ankles
creeping up my thin legs
consuming my body whole.
The pain right now is horrendous, I need to get out.
I need to get away from this.
But what can I do? What can help me now?
I sit there and ponder, and then I realize.
My only escape, my only way out,
my exit from this is you.
You are the only one that can rescue me.
Without you here by my side, I could not go on.
I would continue to be left alone in the darkness,
left to endure this pain and suffering,
left to realize how much I love you,
and how much you truly mean to me.
