Fainthearted

I bleed upon your broken heart,
Grasping it closely as if it were mine.
I close my eyes, just to remember you,
And the way that your eyes used to shine.
In the silence, I can hear your voice;
But it's lost its soft, gentle tone.
I miss the way you sang to me;
All that's left are your muffled moans.
I stole your heart, and promised to be careful,
And look at what I've done.
Broken, lifeless, and miserable you now are,
Now I realize how much I loved this one.

I'll lay here for as long as it takes, my love,
Til I feel the warmth of your affection.
When you wipe away these tears on my face,
I cry again, at the sight of me in your eye's reflection.
I broke your heart, I know, and I'm sorry,
Take these words very seriously.
For I love you more than any before,
And I need you to be here with me.
Dry these tears, and lay down beside me,
I'll give back the heart I said I'd hold.
So that you may have time to mend,
And warm the heart I've kept so cold.

I'll remember our days in glory;
I'll remember that smile across your face.
I won't keep quiet the love felt for you,
I promise these emotions won't be displaced.
I will reach out and touch you again;
I'll let out my heart's choir.
Reach out and hold me too,
So I know our future's not so dire.
Open your eyes, then look into mine,
See the love I hold for you.
Understand that without you, I cannot live;
I apologize, faintheartedly, for all I've put you through.
