The Boy Across The Hall

I look at you from across the hall,
My heart begins to fall.
I wonder why you won't be mine.
Out loud I say it's fine,

But in my head it's all a lie.
I let out a big sigh.
I act as if everything is alright,
But I feel as if there is no lght.

I ask you what is wrong,
And why we will never belong.
You say you're not ready to date,
But then I hear about your new mate.

It's bad enough when it happens one time,
But more makes it a crime.
You think by now I'd get the hint,
But then I see a different tint.

It seems like you flirt,
But why does it hurt?
Why does it feel like a taunt?
Please tell me what it is you want.

I wonder why life has to be so confusing,
Then the bell lets out a ring.
I fall out of my trance,
And just by chance,

You give me your hand.
And now I understand,
Your the boy across the hall.
To me, that is all.
