All alone was I one night
And I saw a star.
A star that shone with all it’s might
And was so very far.

I closed my eyes and thought of you
And this is what I wished:
“Make him love me like I love him,
And seal it with a kiss.”

But I make a mistake,
I wished on the wrong star.
Your love for me is not here.
We would not make it far.

Instead, you love her.
That was not my wish!
I love you like you love her
And you seal it with a kiss.

Now I see that it must be
Your star you’re wishing on
For if you make just one mistake
It can go horribly wrong.

As for me,
I still haven’t found the star that is mine
But I’ll keep wishing again and again,
Until I know you’re mine.
